Jofre Oliveras (ES)

Spanish visual artist Jofre Oliveras utilizes a spectrum of mediums to create his murals, sculptures and installations. Oliveras sees beyond the commodification of people, rather seeking interactions and conversations which happen in our towns, both sanctioned and unsanctioned, to aid in his research and understanding of public spaces, which is then transferred into the context of his artwork. For Jofre, art is a tool that defines the need for change in individual people and society as a whole, and as a communication process derived from human sensitivity, explaining why recent works have seen him explore new concepts through the city and its population. His distinct imagery uses satire to criticize social convictions and conventionalism through witty sculptural and conceptual interventions, alongside his own meticulously executed murals in the public arena.
